Did You Know?

* 117 million people are forcibly displaced
in the world - 1 in every 70 people
     *  42 million of these are refugees outside
their country of origin
     *  the majority of refugees are hosted in low to
middle income nations like Colombia, Iran,
Türkiye and Uganda where the GDP per
person (annually) ranges from $1300 to
$18,000 in contrast to Canada’s $55,00

Canadians have an invitation and opportunity to respond - behind each number is a person of value!

Why Another Charity - Lighting Refugee Pathways? (LRP)

Twenty years ago James Grunau, LRP’s Executive Director, helped found Journey Home Community which assists newly arriving asylum seekers to Metro Vancouver.  With a life-long heart for global mission, James recently initiated Lighting Refugee Pathways to address the global issue of forcibly displaced people. Our desire at LRP is to see Canadian efforts/resources dedicated to refugee work inside of Canada are matched and even exceeded by resources to high density refugee areas outside of Canada.

LRP has been formed to address this GLOBAL need.  Our goal is to assist churches and agencies working in high density refugee areas of the world and then help link these global groups to Canadians by:

       * mobilizing people to action
     * providing training
       * establishing partnerships
       * deploying Canadians abroad
